Working in a hotel, pub or restaurant in London: what you need to know

Working in hotels in London

London is a city where you can find a wide range of hospitality jobs relatively easily if we are not very picky and salary schedules .

Curriculum Vitae

The first thing we have is a CV in English with photo if possible , but not essential . Work experience is the first thing they will look when they see your CV will not mind if you have worked in a company in Spain , or if you have a degree , so it is very bad to say, but if you have no experience whatsoever in catering the best is to lie a little. Put you've worked as a waiter / a in a pub or restaurant , you encargabas of the box, or wore only drinks to the tables. You can alwayssay that in Spain is different! . Something very important to keep in our CV is a telephone number English. Buy your prepaid phone when you get there , there are very cheap , and use it to work around the issue . If you do not provide English numbers no one will call .

How do I work?

Most of the big chain restaurants and cafes are on your website a Application Form ( Form to apply for work ) to download or fill in online . Attach your CV and send it , they will contact you if interested. Also many of these chains have Recruitment Center ( Recruiting ) . They are places where you can bring your CV and will give themselves there to fill in the Application Form. The directions usually come on the same page of the chain in the Jobs section . Another way to search is to deliver your CV where you want.

There are many stores , chains and that people may be looking at a particular time . So stop shyness aside and comes asking for work, and not to have it, and hopefully you will be called . Test in pubs , bars , restaurants , cafes , hotels, even shops, anything goes. And finally a much better way is to do so online . There are pages in Spain to look for work , type infojobs : http://www.totaljobs.com/ http://www.londonjobs.co.uk/ http://www.justlondonjobs.co.uk/ can also go straight to Gumtree . In the Jobs section you will see all kinds of deals out there , and if you select Waiting & Restaurant you will all offers from Pubs and Restaurants, to Catering, Hotels, etc. . You can put English on the top, and see all the work related to Spanish .

How much is paid in London to work in hospitality ?

The salary of such sites is not very good, but gives to survive. The UK legal minimum is 5.93 pounds, whatever is below that do not accept it . The big chains typically pay between 5.93 and 7 pounds , sometimes up to 8 by adding some bonus they give, or move up in Important : National Insurance Number The NIN (National Insurance Number) is the equivalent of our Social Security number . To get it go to a Job Centre Plus , you'll get a phone number you have to call and make an appointment for an interview . In this interview I ask, what do you do in London , if you are working or looking for work , when you come , how long you plan to stay , etc. .

Note that the NIN serves to charge you the correct amount of tax . While you will not have interim charging a fee , which will be more safe than really belongs. There are also places where if you have the NIN do not want to hire you because they also have to pay more taxes for you, so it is best to order the appointment as soon as possible . The NIN is essential ! . Related Living and working in London Working in London babysitting job search tips in London Hire a mobile in London
